Units that have recently upgraded to Android 14 may experience app freezing when switching to another app and then back. This seems to affect newer Samsung phones at least. Efforts are underway to address this issue.

In the 'Where?' app, you can download Norway's topographic main map series 'Norway 1:50,000' to your phone. You will always have access to maps on your phone, even when you are out in the wilderness and outside coverage areas. If you're wondering where you are, 'Where?' will show you.

'Where?' allows you to easily download maps for entire counties without taking up too much space on your phone. You can also download maps that cover 50 kilometers into Sweden and Finland. The 'Norway 1:50,000' map series has the same content as the military map series 'Emergency Map M711,' produced by the Mapping Authority for the Armed Forces. The Emergency Map is used by the Armed Forces, Police, Civil Defense, and similar units in exercises and operations.

The map series is continuously maintained, and it is important to always have the most updated maps. The app will remind you to download new maps if it has been more than 3 months since your last download.

With 'Where?' you can:

• Always have maps available without internet access.
• Find out where you are.
• Determine the direction of your movement.
• Use compass view to show which direction your phone is pointing.
• Show position and coordinates.
• Save positions as 'bookmarks'.

ABOUT GPS USAGE:

Please note that extensive use of GPS may reduce battery life.

ABOUT BOAT NAVIGATION:

Only public nautical charts should be used for boat navigation. Therefore, navigation information such as lighthouse sectors has been removed from the maps used in 'Where?'

ON MAP USAGE DURING LONGER TRIPS:
